Vaccine shortage hits Wardenburg

Due to a nationwide shortage of Menactra, the new meningitis vaccine, Wardenburg Health Center is unable to offer the shot to students at this time. "There is a nationwide shortage of the vaccine, which I don't really understand; many underestimated how much it would be needed or the popularity," said Martha Johns, director of Clinical Outreach Services at Wardenburg.

Breyer to speak at Wolf Law Building dedication

The new Wolf Law Building on the east side of campus is open for classes. Construction workers completed the project on time so classes could begin flawlessly on Monday. Stephen Gerald Breyer, the 108th Supreme Court Justice, will speak at the building's dedication Sept. 8.

Blake Mackey ready for action after recovery

Snap. Crackle. Pop. These noises might be good to hear if one is eating Rice Krispies. They are not such good sounds when one is playing football. Unfortunately for Buffs senior wide receiver Blake Mackey, he was not eating breakfast when he heard his knee make that clamor. He was being tackled in a 2005 spring camp practice, one that was supposed to be non-contact. Mackey's ACL was completely torn, and his season was lost.

ATLAS showcases student creativity

To showcase staff and students' creative projects, along with events at CU, the new Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society Center has unveiled its video wall. According to Communications Coordinator Bruce Henderson, the ATLAS wall will provide footage from theater and dance performances, animations from Fiske Planetarium, CU athletic overviews, student films, and other campus events.

Bicycle theft down

This summer saw a relatively low number of bicycle thefts compared to the record high in August of last year, according to CU Police officer Tim McGraw. The 62 bicycle thefts reported last August, which occurred mostly during the daytime, left students and the CU Police Department anxious to prevent a repeat this summer.
