Minus the Bear
Minus the Bear, an indie rock band with Seattle origins, will be coming to the Ogden this week. The group has been noted for its unique and sometimes humorous song titles, and its complex sounds. Despite its commercial success — they’ve performed on the same stages as Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World and Soundgarden — this group is dedicated to sticking to its work ethic and artistic ideals. To experience pure music and a down-to-earth performance, check out Minus the Bear at the Ogden on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Openers: Murder by Death, Aero Flynn.
RAC/Big Data
If you are a fan of remixes, be sure to check out RAC and Big Data, performing at the Ogden this week. RAC, the solo project of André Allen Anjos, has remixed over 200 tracks, and his catchy and rhythmic tunes have been featured in commercials for companies ranging from Apple to Citibank. Some of RAC’s remixes include tracks from Lady Gaga, Bob Marley and Lana Del Rey. Sharing the stage with RAC is Big Data, an electronic musician who “aims to explore the relationship between man and machine,” according to his bio on the Ogden website. These electronic savants will be performing at the Ogden on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Openers: Karl Fling, Filous.
Young the Giant
Indie rock band Young the Giant will be taking the stage at the Boulder Theater this week. This group is known for its sun-soaked sound, smooth vocals and hooks that will be stuck in your head for days. This group has been gaining a steady following over the past few years, and has played venues such as The House of Blues in Anaheim, California, as well as the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. To rock out with Young the Giant, head to the Boulder Theater Monday, Nov. 16 or Tuesday, Nov. 17. Both shows begin at 8 p.m. Opener: Wildling.
Paper Bird
The music of Paper Bird is a soothing and pure sound of indie folk, blue-eyed soul, and rock. Another unique aspect of the band is that there is no singular “leader.” Instead, every member writes and contributes to the group in a relatively equal fashion. Paper Bird is establishing itself as an up-and-coming band, as they’ve been featured on NPR’s This American Life and were listed in Paste Magazine as one of the “12 Colorado Bands You Should Listen to Now” in 2014. Paper Bird will be performing at the Fox Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. Opener: Swimm.
