Business school dean finalists announced

Two finalists are in the running to be named dean of the Leeds School of Business.

The finalists, announced today, are David L. Ikenberry and Kenneth A. Kavajecz, according to a CU news release.

Ikenberry is the associate dean of the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He will visit campus Nov. 17-20.

In 2002, Business Week named Ikenberry one of the best instructors in the nation. He teaches investment and corporate finance.

Kavajecz will also visit campus, but on Nov. 30-Dec. 3. He is associate dean for full-time masters programs and associate dean for the undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Wisconsin School of Business.

Kavajecz has received teaching awards for both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at Northwestern University and at The Wharton School.

Dennis Ahlburg left his position as the dean of the Leeds School of Business when he accepted the presidency of Trinity University in San Antonio. Manuel Laguna, a professor of operations and information management, is currently serving as the interim dean.

A final decision on who will become dean is expected to be announced in spring 2011.
