Burks, who has consistently led the Buffs in scoring this season, averaged 28 points per game in this week’s matchups against Western New Mexico (92-70) and No.8 Missouri (89-76).
In the home win against Western New Mexico on Jan. 5, he contributed 20 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Three days later, in Colorado’s Big 12 opener against Missouri, Burks helped upset the Tigers with a career-high 36 points. This single-game point total is the second highest in the Big 12 this season. Burks also added eight rebounds and shot 63.2 percent from the field.
Burks’ average of 20.1 points per game is the second-highest in the Big 12. His efforts have helped Colorado to a five-game winning streak, including their first win against a Top-10 ranked team since February 2003.
The Buffs’ record is currently 12-4 and 1-0 in the Big 12. They travel to Kansas State Wednesday, hoping to continue their winning streak and lock down another Big 12 victory.
