CU student hit on Baseline

Wayne Halsey, a 65-year-old LaPorte resident, is facing careless driving causing injury charges after hitting Kara O’Kelly, a 20-year-old sophomore integrative physiology major. Halsey hit O’Kelly when she was riding her bike according to Sarah Huntley, Boulder Police Department public information officer.

The collision occurred near 10:05 a.m. on Tuesday. Halsey, who was driving a Toyota Matrix, hit O’Kelly in a crosswalk on Baseline near 27th St., according to the police blotter.

O’Kelly sustained broken bones and was treated at the hospital, Huntley said.

Huntley said further information on O’Kelly’s injuries cannot be released at this time.
