Spring into fashion

The new season brings more than just flowers

Spring trends have been waiting for months to burst out. Their time has finally come.

This spring, men and women have some recurring trends from past seasons and some new trends to spark the fashion senses.

Florals, shocking accessories, the color yellow and a return to the 50s look are all spring trends that Vogue has selected this year for women in their March 2008 issue.

“I am seeing a lot of bright colors, volume, embellished and ornate detailing, art inspired accessories and yellows and purples,” Katie Redwing, 26, a sales associate and stylist at MAX in Boulder said.

This spring, Elle has selected black and white, watercolors, tye-dye and neon for spring colors. The magazine also expects spring to have patterns such as circles, surreal designs and sequined stripes, all of which is in their March 2008 issue.

Elle also selected items such as one-shoulder dresses and BOHO (bohemian) inspired pieces.

While the spring fashion trends consist of patterns, colors, shapes and cuts, an outfit is not complete without some accessories.

Elle also selected oversized clutches, wood platforms and gladiator flats.

“I am also seeing flats and gladiator inspired shoes this spring,” Redwing said.

While men’s fashion is often overlooked by the fashion world, Details had time in its March 2008 issue to select denim and madras for this spring’s fabric choices.

Details also selected Gingham for a spring pattern, followed with neutrals and blues for this spring’s colors.

To get your hands on the spring trends for an affordable price, look at stores like Forever 21, Gadzooks or Target. If you are looking for something that was seen on the runway rather than inspired by the runway, check out MAX, Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus.

While spring does not officially start until March 20, knowing what is expected to be popular for the season will help anyone bring in spring with style.
