Boulder police are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly took place early Saturday morning in a residential area east of campus.
At 2:43 a.m., a man pushed a 20-year-old woman to the ground from behind and sexually assaulted her near 30th Street and Euclid Avenue, Boulder Police Department said in a news release.
The woman, who had been walking alone, screamed for help. A resident in a house nearby heard her screams and called police.
The release said the woman, who also suffered minor physical injuries, was transported to a hospital to meet with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, a specialized registered nurse whose consultation includes the collection of forensic samples and an emotional assessment.
The man was last seen running toward 30th Street. He was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s with spiked hair, full mustache, long sideburns and wire-rim glasses who is 5-foot-5-inches to 5-foot-6-inches tall. He was wearing a dark hoodie with white lettering and a dark-colored backpack.
Police asked anyone who may have seen the incident or were in the area between 2:30 and 3 a.m. to call police at 303-441-3333.
Since August, University of Colorado Boulder Police Department has alerted students, faculty and staff to what has amounted to a rising number of reports of sexual offenses near or on campus. Saturday’s report to Boulder Police Department is not one of the six that campus police have shared in the last six months.
