At the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore., on Thursday night, the University of Colorado’s women’s basketball team dropped a conference game against the Oregon State Beavers, 65-45.
After starting their season strong with a 13-game winning streak, the Buffs have now dropped three of their last five conference matchups.
Senior forward Julie Seabrook was the only Buff to score in double figures, leading her team with 10 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard Chucky Jeffery added six points. Jeffery is now just eight away from reaching 1,000 career points.
Colorado struggled in the first half, shooting just 16.7 percent from the field compared to OSU’s 42.3 percent. By halftime, the Buffs were already trailing 33-17.
The Buffs improved after halftime, going on a 5-0 run and closing their gap to 11. They couldn’t hold onto that momentum, however. Oregon State responded with a 7-0 run.
CU ended up shooting only 11-of-28 from the field in the second half. The Buffs’ offensive struggles caused Oregon State to widen its gap to 20 by the end of the game, and the Beavers took a decisive 65-45 victory.
With the loss, the Buffs fall to 15-6 overall and 4-6 in conference play, while the Beavers improve to 14-7 overall and 5-5 in the Pac-12.
The University of Oregon is CU’s next opponent. The Buffs take on the Ducks on Saturday at 3 p.m. MST in Eugene, Ore.
