This Friday and Saturday, the University of Colorado volleyball team will host the 2019 Colorado Classic. The tournament includes Campbell University, Oakland University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County all making the trek to the CU Events Center.
The tournament kicks off at 4:00 p.m. MST on Friday, Sept. 20 with UMBC facing off against Campbell. Later that day, the Buffs will take on the Oakland Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Looking at Saturday, four games will take place over the course of the day. Campbell and Oakland get the morning going at 10:00 a.m., followed by CU and UMBC playing at noon. In the evening, UMBC and Oakland wrap up their play in the tournament at 5:30 p.m., and the Buffs face Campbell at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the Classic.
The CU volleyball team is looking to bounce back from the two losses last week. The Buffs suffered back-to-back defeats against Colorado State University, ultimately dropping the Golden Spike Trophy match. In their second match against CSU, the Buffs struggled to break out of certain rotations during multiple-point runs and dropped the match with a final score of 3-2.
Prior to the sweep, the Buffs were undefeated, having bested some quality competition. The Colorado Classic offers CU the opportunity to get back into their groove and spark their next undefeated run.
