The No. 16 University of Colorado Buffaloes are leading the Arizona Wildcats 28-10 at the halfway point in Tucson, Arizona.
Colorado has finally found some offensive rhythm after two weeks in which the team couldn’t get much going, and senior quarterback Sefo Liufau is finally clicking again. He’s 13-of-18 for 158 yards with two touchdowns so far.
Both touchdown throws were right where they needed to be. Liufau has been on the dot. Junior wide receiver Shay Fields, Jr. was in the end zone, and Liufau threw the ball well over the defender and right into Fields’ hands. The next was a throw to sophomore wide-out Jay MacIntyre, who was open on a streak down the sidelines. The ball found him in stride.
But it hasn’t been a perfect game for the Buffs. Defensively, the team is struggling to stop Arizona’s ground game. The Wildcats have gained 186 total rushing yards and are averaging 6.2 yards per attempt.
The defense did redeem itself, however. Arizona made a catch near the end of the second quarter that CU was quick to tackle — the ball came out and Colorado recovered. This is the Buffs’ nation-leading 23rd straight game with a takeaway.
After a crazy week of college football, Colorado will look to capitalize and vault into the single digits in the rankings this week.
The CUIndependent will have a full game report after time expires.
