Katja Hermann and Samantha Avoian arrived at the UMC at 6:45 a.m. to stand in line to vote on Election Day morning. They decided to come early to get their votes in before their morning classes, but were surprised to see that they were the first to reach the polls. Each will be voting in their first presidential election.
“I wish the election that I was voting in for the first time was more centered around the issues and not around two people and their drama,” Katja said about the campaign.
When asked why they decided to vote early, Katja said her ballot was sent incorrectly with her last name misspelled, forcing her to vote in person on Election Day.
After snapping a few selfies, they were let into the polls to vote on who will be the next president of the United States.
