Tuesday night’s New Hampshire primaries ended in victory for Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders. According to the Associated Press, both candidates were favored to win the primaries going into Tuesday night.
The win in New Hampshire is an important one for the candidates in the race for the presidential nomination, especially seeing as the Iowa caucuses presented a closer race, with both Trump and Sanders coming in second in their respective parties.
As for the rest of the candidates, John Kasich, who remained largely off the radar during the Iowa caucuses, devoted the majority of his campaign resources to succeeding in New Hampshire. Kasich came in second, according to AP. Hillary Clinton came in second on the Democratic side, as she is the only other democratic candidate left after Martin O’Malley ended his campaign in Iowa. As of 8:35 MST Tuesday night, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush are battling for third place.
The next caucuses will take place in Nevada and South Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 20.
