The CU-Boulder Police Department has announced that Max Demby, a junior, is the good samaritan who foiled a sexual assault April 4.
According to police, the assault occurred in the early morning hours near the engineering center. Demby heard a scream from the victim, police said, and stopped the attack.
Demby, an accounting major and Ralphie handler, then walked the victim home, according to police.
CUPD arrested 27-year-old Andrew Bryant Souser a short time later in connection with the assault and a separate incident near the UMC later that morning. Souser remains in custody at the Boulder County Jail.
“Max is a hero for the quick actions he took to prevent this assault from becoming far worse,” said CUPD Chief Melissa Zak in a news release.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact CUPD Det. Sgt. Steve Cowles at (303) 492-2112.
