The CUSG Legislative Council ratified freshman Madalena Deandrea as the new CUSG director of communication Thursday.
Deandrea, formerly a member of the CUSG freshman council, takes over for the old director of communication, Alexandra Garcia, who is no longer with CUSG, according to CUSG President of Internal Affairs Lora Roberts.
Deandrea, an open option major in the college of arts & sciences, said her top priorities as director of communication will be to improve CUSG’s transparency.
“A lot of students don’t know what’s going on with CUSG, and we need to reach out to them and help get them to be more involved,” Deandrea said.
Roberts said she has full confidence in Deandrea.
“She’s like a celebrity. Everyone wants her on their projects and that’s why we chose her,” Roberts said.
Deandrea said her first big acts as director of communication will be to get the student body more involved with CUSG’s social media.
“I looked at how many people follow us on Twitter and we have way more students than that,” Deandrea said. “We need to get the student body more involved.”
