Most teams are happy with an opening season win, but the University of Colorado tennis team didn’t just win. They dominated.
The Buffs started their season on a high note, defeating the University of Northern Colorado Bears by a combined score of 7-0.
The Buffs were dominant, winning five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Julyette Steur recorded her 50th career victory for Colorado, receiving a boost from teammates Tina Bokhua, Kyra Wojcik, a talented group of Buffs that won their 19th straight match against the University of Northern Colorado.
Behind Steur’s milestone, the Buffs took two of the three doubles matches and won all six singles matches. The lone blemish of the day was Bokhua and Steur’s doubles loss to Courtney Schulte and Beth Coton of the Bears. Bokhua had no trouble in her singles match, winning in straight sets as the No. 1. sophomore, while Nuria Ormeño Ruiz won her 25th singles match.
CU will look to continue this good start when they play at Air Force on January 30 and in the home opener vs. Kansas on January 31.
