The Connection, located on campus in the UMC, is best known as a convenient hangout for CU students and Boulder locals. The venue prides itself on being the only 10-lane bowling alley in the city, and is popular for hosting a variety of affordable events like free poker tournaments, karaoke night and extreme bowling.
The Connection’s budget-friendly prices have always attracted crowds, but up until recently, something vital was missing — a food menu.
Earlier this month, The Connection introduced its first-ever late night menu, available on weekdays and Sundays from 5-10 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m. The best part is that you can purchase almost any of the food for under $10, the 12-piece wings being the only exception.
Although many of the dishes are typical “bowling alley food,” like the double cheeseburger and chili cheese dog, others break the mold of what you would expect of a casual student hangout.
The grilled chicken sandwich and avocado slices are two simple carb and protein-rich options, and the BLT and breakfast burrito wrap are already popular dishes served at established restaurants like The Sink and Snooze on Pearl Street.
The breakfast burrito wrap is made with scrambled eggs, potatoes, green chili and shredded cheese, and comes with a choice of sausage, bacon or a vegetarian option. It is wrapped in a 12-inch flour tortilla, and like most breakfast burritos, it’s really good.
The BLT is fairly textbook as bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches come, but is served on healthy 12-grain bread and only costs $4.99.
Microwavable meals and snacks are also available. The deep-dish pizza (small), corn dog and chimichanga (my personal favorite) are a few of the better options.
The Connection is still serving soft and alcoholic drinks, all for no more than $4. Their rule of one alcoholic drink per ID still stands, so don’t forget to bring identification.
The schedule for The Connection’s weekly programs and events is available online, along with a full menu.
