The University of Colorado men’s lacrosse team will play Colorado State University in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Showdown at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver.
The Buffs (11-2, 3-0) are looking to pay the Rams (10-3, 2-1) back for last year’s 7-2 defeat in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association championship game.
Colorado has lost 13 of its last 14 games against CSU. But this year, the Buffs bring an especially high-powered offense to the table. Colorado has already scored 209 goals this season, and senior all-Americans Riley Seidel (65), Tyler Dougherty (35) and Jack Cranston with 58 have combined for 158 points.
CSU, on the other hand, has scored only 122 goals so far, but the Rams also have conceded just 87. Colorado’s defense isn’t as stingy, but senior goaltender Mitch Fenton has a solid .638 save percentage.
Two high school lacrosse games will precede the Showdown. Kent High School plays Mountain Vista High School at noon, and Arapahoe High School takes on Cherry Creek High School at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $10 now and $12 on game day.
