A slate of candidates running for CU’s student government appeared before spring break in a blog calling attention to offensive social interactions on campus between different genders, races, orientations and cultures, known as “microaggressions.”
Candidates running on the Unite ticket in the upcoming spring elections were featured in photos on the Tumblr called I, Too, Am CU that launched March 20 based on a similar project at Harvard.
I, Too, Am CU does not disclose an affiliation with any specific CUSG ticket because the blog is run independent of any campus resource center by a group of at least four students.
CUSG sent an email to their student officials inviting them to participate in the project and the Unite candidates were the only ones who contributed photos, said Lauren Cross, CUSG communications director.
Spring elections will be held the week of April 7.
Update: In a previous version of this story, CUSG Communications Director Lauren Cross said the I, Too blog was run out of the CU Women’s Resource Center. While Cross did say that, the blog is in fact run independently by a group of students, some of which are affiliated with the WRC.
