Colorado’s mountains make it one of the best places to longboard in the country. Rabbit Ears Pass and other hotspots draw skaters from around the country because of extreme pitch and beautiful outlooks. The competitive longboard scene continues to grow as the sport becomes more popular and participants continue to innovate and push the limits.
CU-Boulder is increasingly at the center of this scene in part because of the quick residential turnover, meaning younger, and more extreme skaters are constantly arriving. Our campus slants east, providing excellent skating within its own limits. This means that skating to class is exceptionally fulfilling. It also means that there are a few hills worth returning to time and time again. The lack of cars, the shadow of the snow-capped flatirons, and the way the buildings on campus seem to spring out of the earth creates the illusion of a changing landscape.
CU Independent has uncovered some of the best spots to longboard on campus, and to help you find them, we’ve put together a video and map that should point you in the right direction. Happy longboarding, Boulder!
