State parole officers arrested Raymond Webster Hamilton in Denver on Nov. 19 on charges of providing false information to a pawnbroker, three fugitive holds and a parole violation.
According to a CU Police Department news release, Hamilton is a suspect in an iPad theft at CU Boulder in July, and is also wanted for questioning in a pattern of 23 cases of wallet and laptop thefts at the CU’s Boulder and Anschutz Medical Campuses, as well as the Colorado School of Mines. The investigation into the wallet and laptop thefts is still ongoing.
The false information provided to a pawnbroker is directly related to the July iPad theft, which lead to Hamilton’s arrest on Nov. 19.
Ryan Huff, spokesperson for CUPD, thanked all those who helped arrest Hamilton.
“We thank the media for their assistance in publicizing these cases, and we thank the public for their tips that led to this arrest,” Huff said in the CUPD news release.
CUPD is reminding students not to leave valuable items unattended and to make sure their belongings are safe.
“At the same time, we remind the campus community that they need to stay vigilant in protecting their valuable items,” Huff said in the news release.
Hamilton is being held without bond and declined to speak to a CUPD detective at the scene of the arrest.
