After a fourth straight loss, the CU football team locked up a seventh straight losing season. After losing to the University of Oregon 70-14 on Saturday, the Buffs’ record is now 1-7 and 1-4 in the Pac-12.
The game was over from the beginning as the No. 4 Ducks were up 56-0 at halftime. The team’s 70 points are the most Oregon has ever scored against a conference opponent. The Buffs’ 56-point first-half deficit ties a school record for largest first-half deficit set in 1980 against UCLA.

The Ducks have scored at least 30 points in 21 straight games, one shy of the FBS record held by Oklahoma State University and the University of Hawaii. Kenjon Barner rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while De’Anthony Thomas rushed for another score and added a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown, on a spectacular play that reflected the lopsidedness of the game as he ran circles around Buffs defenders.
Colorado freshman Christian Powell rushed for 127 yards and the Buffs’ only two touchdowns. The Buffs’ offense couldn’t keep up with Oregon’s high-powered offense as they only gained 245 yards compared to Oregon’s 617.
The Ducks put in most of their backups during the second quarter, and backup quarterback Bryan Bennett rushed for three touchdowns.
CU has allowed at least 50 points in all of the team’s last four games. The Buffs’ defense has struggled all year as they have kept only CSU to fewer than 30 points all season.
The betting spread for the game was 47 points, and Oregon easily covered. Next Saturday it won’t get any easier as the Buffs face their third straight ranked opponent when No. 19 Stanford University comes to Folsom Field.
