You’re at a party and everyone is having the time of their lives, including yourself. Suddenly, someone enters the party and ruins your good time, or worse yet, you are that person. That’s why CUI has a few tips to make sure you’re not “that” guy or girl who ruins a good party for everyone.
Alright, guys, here’s what’s up:
Don’t be that “way too wasted” guy: Anybody that is too drunk is no fun at all. When you get too drunk, you lose all understanding of social norms and begin to act a way that you would never act if you were sober or only slightly tipsy. So, know your limits and stick to them in order to be an enjoyable party partner.

Don’t be the fighter: There are many different types of drunks, and one of the worst ones is the aggressive drunk. It is especially annoying in males who want to start fights with everyone at the party. It kills the vibe and can be potentially dangerous to everyone surrounding the fight. Drink enough to have a good time, but don’t drink so much that you can’t control your fists.
Don’t be the stalker: Don’t follow around every female at the party and sloppily hover over them. It is a total turn-off and will only drive the ladies away. Be calm and cool, and the ladies will come to you. Also, don’t hook up with everyone at the party. Word will get around and no girl will want the guy that has been with every other girl there.
Don’t be the guy who has to control every part of the night: Nobody wants to stay at a party where there is a total douchebag patrolling the party. You know, the guy who won’t let certain girls in, the guy who won’t let other guys into the party, the guy that complains about pitching for alcohol or the guy that is just sucking the fun out of the entire party. He’s no fun, and nobody likes him. Let everyone come to your epic party, make sure that they have a great time and you will be a party god.
Now for the ladies:
Don’t be that ridiculously trashed girl: We have all seen that girl that has gone way past her limit (and then some). She is way too loud and sloppy and can’t tone it down, all of which are buzz kills for everyone else. Going shot for shot with a guy will make you this girl; guys are much bigger than you and can handle more. Know your limit and do not pass it.
Don’t be the girl that is a problem for her friends: Your friends are awesome, so don’t drink so much that they have to take care of you. You’re in college; you don’t need a babysitter anymore. Everybody wants to have a good time, so do your best to keep that fun going. Add to the fun with your impressive dance moves, not with making your friend hold your hair back.
Don’t be the slutty girl: You do not have to sleep with every guy at the party, no matter what your drunk brain is telling you. Everyone is there to have fun, and that overly flirty girl who hits on every guy at the party ruins that fun.
Do not be the attention whore: Not all the attention needs to be on one person at a party. One purpose of a party is to hang with many different people. You’re not the star of the party, so you don’t need all eyes on you at all times.
So, there you have it: a couple how-to’s on how to make your college partying days more successful. Stick to these rules and you won’t be “that” guy or girl.
