The body of a homeless man was discovered Friday morning in Boulder Creek by 13th Street and Arapahoe Avenue.
Boulder police have been investigating the case since 6:30 a.m., when a passerby walking along the creek noticed the body.
The man, thought to be in his 50s, “had been drinking with a group of transients” until about 4 a.m., said Kim Kobel, spokesperson for the Boulder Police Department.
“One of the other homeless men told us that he saw the deceased go into the water and that he didn’t appear to be in any distress,” Kobel said.
The others in the group left the man behind. Kobel says she suspects that he had been in the water for almost two hours before the passerby spotted the body near the creek bank.
“The officers who patrol that area — that’s their beat, and they know the people who hang out there,” Kobel said. “But we need to figure out if he has any family members and notify them before we release his identification.”
At this point in the investigation, foul play is not suspected.
