Junior Chucky Jeffery’s 18 points against the University of California wasn’t enough to bring the Buffaloes their first victory since Feb. 9 as they lost their fourth straight game, 64-43 in Berkeley, Saturday afternoon.
The win for California clinched them the second spot in the Pac-12 regular season behind the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal, while the Buffs now are in 10th place in the conference.
The difference in this game was in California’s points off of turnovers. With 17 turnovers by Colorado in the game, California managed to score 18 points off of the Buffs’ mistakes. And like their game against Stanford earlier this week, the Buffaloes allowed their opponent to go on one huge run that was too big to overcome. In Saturday’s game, the big run came for California with 7:40 left in the first half when they went on a 16-3 run that basically put the game out of reach for the entirety of the second half.
Even when the Buffs brought that lead back down to seven points in the second half, they again let California get a game-ending 18-6 run.
Colorado returns home for the final weekend of the regular season. The Buffaloes host Oregon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 at the Coors Events Center.
