CU’s College of Arts and Sciences is losing its current dean.
According to a university news release, Dean Todd Gleeson handed in his letter of resignation to Provost Moore, and it was accepted.
Gleeson is leaving his post of nine years, but remains active at the university, according to the news release. He plans to return to teaching as a professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology.
Moore said in the news release that Gleeson served the university well during his time as dean.
“Todd Gleeson has been an effective leader of CU-Boulder’s largest college during a time of great transformation and growth,” Moore said in the release. “He has overseen the growth of student enrollment in Arts and Sciences programs from 13,850 to over 16,100 students, a 12 percent faculty expansion, and the introduction of a number of innovative new academic programs, all while managing significant budget challenges during his tenure as dean.”
There is no replacement for Gleeson yet, but according to Moore, a search will begin later this academic year.
Gleeson was associate dean for student academic affairs and curricular affairs from 1990-1995, and was named Dean of Arts and Sciences in April of 2002.
