David L. Ikenberry is taking over as the new dean of the Leeds School of Business at CU.
Ikenberry will take office effective Feb. 14 and will be succeeding Interim Dean Manuel Laguna, according to a university news release.
Ikenberry is currently associate dean at the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He has held positions at Rice University, the University of Washington and the University of Illinois and has taught and researched investments and corporate finance. He has also advised executives and served on both the Board of Trustees at Carle Foundation Hospital as well as on the board of directors of First Busey Corporation, both of which are located in Illinois.
Ikenberry said he considers the appointment a privilege.
“Being named dean of the Leeds School of Business is a true privilege,” Ikenberry said in the news release. “This business school, one of the oldest in the country, has a reputation for innovative programs and curricula. The school’s alumni, faculty and students have worked hard to position the school well. I plan to continue that collaboration as we advance Leeds and its impact as one of the nation’s great business schools.”
Michael Leeds, a member of the school’s advisory board and an alumnus, said he is excited about the news.
“I am very excited about finding such a qualified individual for the position,” Leeds said in the news release. “His research and teaching background bodes well for an exciting future for excellence both in the classroom and academically.”
