The Colorado men’s club soccer team is bringing home a national championship.
The Buffaloes are the 2010 NCCS National Champions, after defeating the University of Missouri 3-1 at the Reach Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz., on Nov. 20. It is the Buffs’ second national championship; they won one in 2005.
For senior defender Connor Hutchinson, the game was probably twice as memorable.
Hutchinson was the author of the two goals, including the goal in the 18th minute that opened the score line in favor of the Buffaloes. He would go on to net a second goal in the 75th minute.
Hutchinson’s efforts on the pitch earned him the Tournament MVP title.
Freshman midfielder Anthony Smoller would net the Buffs’ second goal of the game, after scoring in the 40th minute.
The Tigers would deny the Buffs a shutout after Shane Rash’s successful penalty kick in the 79th minute.
With their final victory of the season, the Buffs finish with an impressive 19-2 record.
