A plane attempting to land at Boulder County Municipal Airport Wednesday morning hit a car at the intersection of Independence and North 57th Street.
According to Rick Brough, a commander with the Boulder County Sherriff’s Office, they got the call at 11:48 a.m. and eyewitness reports stated that:
“The plane was landing going in a westerly direction when one of the wheels hit hard on the ground and the plane then veered North and crossed Independence St. As the plane crossed the street the right wing came in contact with a car. The plane then continued on and the left wing was sheared off by a power pole. When the plane came to a stop the pilot exited and ran.”
Brough said there were two people in the car that was hit by the plane, but that neither suffered any injuries. The car is estimated to have moderate to severe damage.
Authorities have not yet been able to contact the pilot. The case will be taken over by the National Transportation Safety Board, the FAA and Colorado State Patrol since the accident also involved a car.
The CU Independent will update the story as more information becomes available.

Oh, that’s brilliant! And is there a way I can “check” a box to have an email notification sent to me when the story is updated?
Currently, we don’t have such a system implemented. If and when we do come up with something, we’ll let you know. Thanks for the interest, Matt!
