On Wednesday, find out if “South Park” still remains the king of controversial cartoons or if “The Sopranos” will prove its the better show. Finally, whose album will you choose to fill the last two spaces in our Top Ten on Thursday?
Today’s nominees for Movie Monday are…
“Legally Blonde” (2001): This fun comedy stars Reese Witherspoon as law school student Elle Woods, who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard, spun off a sequel and a Broadway show.
“Gladiator” (2000): This multiple award-winner set in ancient Rome stars Russell Crowe as Roman general-turned-fugitive Maximus, who must conquer the gladiatorial arena to avenge his family’s and emperor’s deaths.
“Ocean’s Eleven” (2001): This all-star ensemble set in Las Vegas is a remake of the successful 1960s film. It stars George Clooney as con man Danny Ocean and Brad Pitt as his second-in-command and showed how a crew stole $150 million dollars from a greedy casino owner played by Andy Garcia.
“Superbad” (2007): This comedy launched the careers of Jonah Hill and Michael Cera focuses on a trio of high school seniors whose risky behavior earns them the attention of two police officers.
“Little Miss Sunshine (2006): This film is centered around a family with peculiar personalities traveling across the country in their RV to enter Olive (Abigail Bressen) in the Little Miss Sunshine Beauty Pageant. Alan Arkin won Best Supporting Actor in 2007 for his portrayal of her foul-mouthed uncle.
