Student government plans for 4/20, UGGS week
The University of Colorado Student Union meeting Thursday night was used to plan for future UCSU events.
Prior to the meeting, Tri-executive member Andrew Aitchison, a senior economics and anthropology major, attended a meeting with the CU Police Department concerning April 20, a marijuana smoker’s holiday, to discuss the university’s plan of action. A traditional 4/20 ‘smoke-out’ usually takes place on Farrand Field, but the field will be closed through the end of the school year.
Aitchison said UCSU will work with the CUPD to plan alternative activities for students to take part in. Proposed ideas include a concert or Earth Day celebration. Funding for these events will come out of the UCSU budget.
Other events in the making include a week dedicated to the United Government of Graduate Students, which is tentatively scheduled for the week of April 2, 2007. The week will include activities to celebrate graduate students and teachers.
Stay tuned to The Campus Press for further news about these events and for weekly coverage of UCSU meetings.
