On Sunday, police will search out and arrest people who have failed to appear in court or comply with warrants related to Boulder minor in possession of alcohol cases.
Boulder Police Department officers will attempt to locate defendants at home, work, school and any other known addresses.
Kim Kobel, spokeswoman for the department, said that officers will pursue 36 people who were issued an MIP ticket, missed court and subsequently have a warrant out for their arrest.
Arrests made during the warrant sweep will require booking at the Boulder County Jail.
The department encouraged people to clear up outstanding warrants before Sunday at the Boulder Police Department, 1805 33rd St.
“If they come in and turn themselves in, they will not be taken to jail,” Kobel said. “They will be taken to jail if they’re arrested on Sunday.”
Boulder police have have avoided arrests in the past by announcing imminent warrant sweeps, Kobel said. The sweeps are conducted “almost every year,” she said, unclear on when the last one occurred.
