In addition to Armistice Day, Veterans Day and Remembrance Day, Nov. 11 is also the birthday of Colorado’s official memorial to veterans.
Veterans, active duty members, ROTC students and parents met in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at 11 a.m. Monday to rededicate the University Memorial Center.

In honor of the UMC’s 60th anniversary, speakers included Rear Admiral Kerry M. Metz and Major General H. Michael Edwards.
“Usually they don’t have people that high in rank,” said Benjamin Peterson, a junior psychology major and 21-year-old ROTC member.
Peterson said he’s been at the UMC for Veterans Day the last three years. In comparison, Monday’s event was “pretty good,” he said.
Although promised last week, Gov. John Hickenlooper did not attend the ceremony.
