Updated: Boulder Police are currently investigating a second-degree assault case, according to the Boulder Police blotter.
A CU student was attacked by two males near 19th and Cascade on Friday, according to Sarah Huntley, Boulder Police Department spokeswoman.
“The victim was walking by himself, when he came upon a woman and four male suspects,” Huntley said. “Apparently the victim thought the woman in the group was attractive and starting ‘hitting on her.’ Two men in the score took offense to this, and began assaulting the victim, who fell to the ground. The men then left the scene.”
The victim said the men looked young, but it is uncertain if the men are CU students, Huntley said.
The victim, who admitted he had consumed several drinks earlier that evening, walked to a CU residence hall, and a friend drove him to the hospital, Huntley said.
“Originally he was brought to the hospital for lacerations to his face and other minor injuries, but the hospital has confirmed that he broke his jaw,” Huntley said.
The broken jaw increases the severity of the charges, according to Huntley.
“The level of assault depends on the extent of his injury,” Huntley said.
She said that the case remains under investigation.
“We haven’t released any names and we haven’t made any arrests,” Huntley said.
