Some great music is arriving in Colorado this upcoming month. Between Boulder, Denver and Fort Collins, there are countless opportunities to get out and see fantastic artists.
The Funky Meters, Feb. 7, 8
George Porter, Jr., Art Neville, Brian Stoltz and Russell Batiste Jr. perform songs from The Meters, George and Art’s revolutionary funk band from the late 1960s. The Funky Meters provide old-school improvisational grooves that promise to get you struttin’ like a chicken!

Lotus, Feb. 7, 8
Lotus has been playing “jamtronica” since 1999, providing listeners with a unique blend of electronic sounds and smooth improvisations, all backed with an incredible light show.

The Revivalists, Feb. 8
Formed in New Orleans in 2007, The Revivalists are hard to define. With seven members on stage playing everything from pedal steel guitar to saxophone, The Revivalists’ high-energy act is not to be missed.

Pixies, Feb. 13
Perhaps one of the most influential rock bands of our time, Pixies have been leading the charge in alternative rock since 1986. Their sound ranges from punk to indie, with singer Black Francis providing a vast array of vocal styles.

Infamous Stringdusters, Feb. 15, 16
Mixing bluegrass with folk music and a healthy dose of live jamming, the Infamous Stringdusters formed in 2006 and have become well-known for their long, improvisational shows.
Aggie Theatre, Fort Collins. 7 p.m., single-day ticket for $20 and two-day ticket for $35.
Keller Williams, Feb. 21
Keller Williams is a solo show with a huge sound. Combining funk, jazz, bluegrass and countless other styles, Keller’s shows feature multiple instruments looped over one another, providing an entertaining and interesting sound.

Winter Wondergrass Festival, Feb. 21-23
This weekend-long camping festival features Greensky Bluegrass with Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, Elephant Revival and an assortment of others. Although bluegrass is the genre du jour, others are are represented during the three-day event.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe Presents Ray Charles Boogaloo Dance Party, Feb. 22
Legendary Saxophonist Karl Denson leads his band in a Ray Charles tribute that will provide soulful, funky sounds.

Pimps of Joytime, Feb. 27, 28
Primarily a funk band, The Pimps of Joytime keep listeners engaged by tossing in a healthy mix of reggae, latin, and afrobeat influence. Playing over 100 shows in 2012 alone, The Pimps of Joytime is a well-oiled live performance machine.

Galactic, March 8
Galactic hails from New Orleans, playing legendary shows like an annual Mardi Gras marathon that stretches long into the morning. With an aggressive funk sound and elements of hip-hop, jazz and electronica, Galactic are seasoned veterans of live performances.
