CU police are investigating a reported burglary in Smith Hall that occurred early on Sunday.
Two women, dorm roommates, awoke to a man standing over one of their beds, according to a CU-Boulder Police Department news release.
The burglar was intoxicated, entered the room between the hours of 1 and 5 a.m. and returned at 5 a.m., the release said. One of the victims said he may have been masturbating on her as she woke up.
The other woman screamed when she realized he was in the room and the burglar quickly left, according to the release.
It was unclear if the victims’ door was locked at the time of the burglary.
The Denver Post reported that it was the third sex-related crime on campus reported to police since August.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call CU Police at 303-492-6666. They are also encouraging students, especially those who live in residence halls, to keep their doors locked.
Correction: A previous version of this story indicated that the Boulder Police Department is investigating this crime. The CU Police Department is the only organization investigating this case.
