Colorado men’s basketball beat the Oregon State Beavers 70-66 in Corvallis to finish their road trip through the state of Oregon. The win brings Colorado to 16-7 overall and 6-5 in the Pac-12.
Spencer Dinwiddie put together a flawless shooting performance going 6-6 from the floor including 4-4 from three and 8-8 from the line for a total of 24 points. Dinwiddie’s performance was just enough to counter a strong showing from Oregon’s backcourt who kept the Beavers in the game.
Oregon State’s guards Ahmad Starks and Roberto Nelson combined for 41 points including eight threes to help the Beavers stay with Colorado throughout the second half.
Balanced scoring was the story for the Buffs yet again as three starters were in double digits with Askia Booker falling just shy with 9 points.
Normally reliable starters Andre Roberson and Askia Booker struggled against Oregon State’s 1-3-1 zone as they combined to go 5-23 from the floor and failed to reach double digits. Roberson also struggled to guard Oregon State’s big man Joe Burton as he put together a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Tonight’s win marks the fifth win in the last six games for Colorado as the Buffs begin to climb up the Pac-12 conference standings where they currently sit at a three-way tie for fifth place. Colorado returns to Boulder to face No. 7 Arizona this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and then take on Arizona State on Sunday.
