The Fox Theatre is preparing for the worst, because notorious hell-raisers The Devil Makes Three plan to send the place up in flames this Friday. The doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the mayhem ignites at 9:00 p.m. The chances of getting in are as grave as the dead, considering the show is sold out. But there could always be scalpers.

Composed of guitarist/frontman Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean, The Devil Makes Three has been spending time fashioning new music in a classic rockabilly raw-grass style. Bernhard described their band as “…a meat grinder into which all manner of folk, blues, and rock-and-roll is fed. After it is killed, smashed up and salted to taste, the resurrection takes place and the reanimated creature is The Devil Makes Three.”
In wake of their 2011 live album, “Stomp and Smash,” The Devil Makes Three has been busting down venues, showcasing their boot-clashing playing.
It has been a while since The Devil Makes Three was last in Colorado, fortunately leaving the Fox Theatre still standing.
“I believe it was 2005, and it was pretty damn good,” Bernhard said. “We went hiking in fact, we enjoy nature walks.”
“This will only be our second time in Boulder, but Colorado has been very good to us from the start,” he continued. “We knew we were going to get along when we first met.”
With little time to acclimate to Boulder’s elevation, Bernhard said The Devil Makes Three will de-rail onto the local night life after the impending doom of their show.
“We plan to set the town on fire, drink every bar out of booze, sacrifice multiple animals to the pagan gods, and do a little grave robbing,” Bernhard said. “Then again we may just drink tea, meditate, and go for a nice quiet stroll.”
If you managed to snag tickets for the show, bring proof of insurance and a couple ice packs, because no one is walking out unscathed. This Friday looks like it will be a night of sin and sweat, clamped down with feet stomping camaraderie.
