At the Windy City Classic hosted by Northwestern University, CU Junior Jenny Coleman finished the three-round tournament at the Glen View Club Course tied for 14th place.
When the first round concluded on Monday, Coleman was tied for 13th with a score of 146 (75-71). Her score of 71 made her just one of 14 sub par performances of the day and marked her fourth sub par of the season. The final round on Tuesday, Coleman added a 75 to make her total 221, this placed her in a tie for 14th. Her final round consisted of one birdie, 13 pars and four bogeys.
The Buffs as a whole, however, had a tough time with the course and the conditions. At the end of Monday’s round the Buffs shot 308-303—611, for a total of 35-over par. The total score was comprised of 16 bogeys and nine double or triple bogeys.
Tuesday was another lackluster day as the Buffs struggled with the wind to finish 32-over par. The team total at the end of the tournament was 931.
Freshmen Alexis Keating and Allie Zech 60th place and 66th place, respectively. Junior Kristin Coleman shot 27-over par (243) to finish in 72nd place and freshman Megan Haase finished 29-over par in a tie for 73rd (245).
The top five finishers consisted of TCU’s April McCoy (214) three-under par. UC Davis’ Demi Runas and Notre Dame’s Lindsey Weaver tied for second place at one-under par (215).There was a three way tie for 4th place between Iowa State’s Punpaka Phuntumabamrung, UC Davis’ Amy Simanton and Northwestern’s Nicole Zhang, shooting even par at 216.
The women’s fall golf season is coming to an end with just two tournaments left. On Oct.12 the Buffs head to North Carolina for the Tar Heel Invitational before concluding their season at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, TX.
