As Entertainment Editor here at the CU Independent, I want you, our readers, to have an awesomely entertaining week. Here are my picks for this week so you’ll never have to worry about being bored.
MUSIC
Tuesday: Menomena’s latest album, “Moms,” drops on Tuesday. It’s the band’s fifth release and first since founding member Brent Knopf left the group to pursue his solo project, Ramona Falls. But never fear, fans: the remaining duo, Justin Harris and Danny Seim, return with their broad instrumentation and clever lyrics.
Friday and Saturday: Odd Future invades the Fox Theatre this Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m. Even if you can’t make it to the shows, keep an eye open for Tyler, the Creator and the rest of the OF crew around town; they’re known to show up at local parties.
MOVIES
Friday: “End of Watch” has everything a good action movie needs: a compelling story, violence and hunky heroes Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. Need I say more?
“The Perks of Being A Wallflower,” a high school literature staple, also comes to the big screen this Friday in limited release. Between the direction and screenwriting of original author Stephen Chbosky and the acting of Emma Watson, “Perks” promises to be everything the angst-ridden teenager inside you needs for entertainment.
FOOD
Monday: If you spent too much money on booze this weekend and you need a cheap dinner Monday night, Half Fast is the place to go. From 5 to 7 p.m., seven inch subs and premium salads are $4.75.
DRINKS
Wednesday: Celebrate hump day at the Goose. From 3 to 6 p.m., enjoy $2 dollar wells, $6 Coors pitchers, $6 Goosearitas and $3 house shots. The weather is supposed to be nice, so take advantage of it and have a refreshing happy hour on the patio.
Thursday: As always, Thursday is Ladies Night at Absinthe House. DJ Petey is spinning and buying drinks for all the ladies from 9 p.m. to midnight.
