Classes may be back in session, but that doesn’t mean this first post-summer week can’t be fun. Here’s what’s up this week in Boulder.
MONDAY
Welcome Gathering @ Regent Lawn
The Center for Multicultural Affairs, SORCE, Career Services and GLBTQ Resource Center will welcome back students on Regent Lawn from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be free food, a DJ and members of several student organizations and campus resources to help you get involved on campus.
TUESDAY
BIJA Dance Boulder @ Avalon Ballroom
Participants will freestyle dance to music from DJs or live sets, presented by BIJA. The dancing will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
Karaoke Wednesday @ Catacombs
Catacombs is serving up plenty of cheap liquid courage to help you prepare for karaoke. Starting at 10 p.m., drink specials include $1 wells, $2 PBR drafts, $3 Jager shots and $4 Jager bombs. The party stops at 2 a.m.
THURSDAY
Visual Rhythm
The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art presents abstract experimental film, video and digital art reflecting on current directions in media art to earlier methods of art. Admission is $5, and doors open at 11:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m.
FRIDAY
Do you know why I stopped you, ma’am?: Department of Communication Colloquium
Dr. Howard Giles will lecture on the intergroup dynamics of police-civilian communication. The lecture is at 3 p.m. in the Art Gallery in the UMC.
CU volleyball vs. Cornell @ Coors Events Center
Watch the CU volleyball team play against Cornell in its season opener in the Omni Hotels Colorado Volleyball Classic. The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Coors Events Center, with free admission for students with their Buff OneCard.
