Students and Boulder residents are organizing 4/20-based protests right and left, but one of the more recently-developed groups is taking a slightly different approach to the day.
An event called “Stay classy CU,” created by sophomore astronomy major, Andrew Trujillo, asks for students to walk around campus on Friday in dressy clothing.

“Me and a friend decided we wanted to ‘suit up’ earlier in the school year, back in February,” Trujillo said. He was inspired by Barney Stinson, a character on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother, that wears suits on a daily basis.
“We thought, why not do it on 4/20?”
Trujillo wanted to have other students join him in suiting up to make the statement that not all of the CU community supports the annual gathering on Norlin Quad.
Those involved in “Stay classy” will be going about their usual business, attending classes and walking to and from their dorms and homes. Unlike other protests, there will not be a gathering, and the students who partake—there are over 350 confirmed attendees on Facebook—won’t be found in large groups.
“We started inviting people, and it’s spread pretty quickly,” Trujillo said. “Anybody can join. Just have something classy to wear, like a suit or a dress, and prove that CU is not all about the smokeout.”
