The CU men’s golf team ended its fall season by falling five spots in the ninth annual Alister Mackenzie Invitational. On Monday, the Buffs finished the day in eighth place, but eventually slid to a 13th place final finish.
No. 2 Oregon and No. 19, and host, California tied for the team title at 41-under par.
Colorado is ranked No. 36 according to GolfStat, No. 32 according to Golfweek and No. 24 according to GCAA/Nike. The Buffs were fifth after the first round, but they were unable to keep up their momentum in the latter part of the competition.
CU had the second highest score in its final round, shooting 12-over par and finishing 4-over par for the meet.
“For a really good team, this was about as bad as we could have played,” head coach Roy Edwards said in a news release. “We had higher expectations for today and for this tournament. The good part of this is that this kind of round will definitely drive us during the off season.”
The Buffs will return to the green for the spring season at the Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate from Feb. 1-3.
