Investigation continues
CU Police Department officers have made an arrest in a recent series of break-ins at the CU Book Store.
Freshman business major Brandon Michael Reuter, 18, was arrested on March 4 on charges of three counts of burglary and one count of theft over $22,000, according to a CUPD press release.
Officials from the Boulder County Jail said Reuter was booked into the jail at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday and released at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday.
“We’re still working on it,” CUPD Cmdr. Brad Wiesley said of the investigation. “At this point he’s the only person we’ve arrested.”
The Book Store was first broken into on Feb. 29 around 3 a.m. The thief allegedly stole nearly 80 iPods. Two more break-ins occurred on the morning of March 4 at 3:30 and 5. The thief took laptops and digital cameras.
CUPD detectives were able to retrieve a “majority” of the stolen electronics, according to the press release.
Reuter did not return phone calls for comment.
He is due to be formally charged March 13.
