The Buffs battled both bad weather and their own struggles Sunday.
Despite on-and-off rain, No. 29 CU women’s golf is tied for fourth after the first two rounds of the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
The Buffs are tied with No. 11 Iowa State and No. 46 Coastal Carolina with a 36-over par 596. Host No. 34 Florida leads the tournament by 17 strokes, with a 12-over 572, followed by No. 38 Florida State, who have a 589, and No. 22 Arkansas, who ended the day 34-over.
Junior Emily Talley led the Buffs’ scorers overall, shooting 1-over on her opening round, and is tied for fourth with a 2-over 142. Talley had five bogeys and four birdies in her first round, and three bogeys and two birdies.
Junior Jess Wallace was the Buffs’ top scorer in the second round, shooting 2-under 68, and is tied for sixth individually. Wallace’s first round was a 5-over 75, giving her a two-round score of 143.
Freshman Jenny Coleman shot a 5-over 75 and a 6-over 76, and is tied for 28th overall. Jenny’s twin sister Kristin finished 21-over par and tied for 73rd. Sophomore Taylor Doyle is in 87th, after posting a two round 28-over par.
The Buffs will finish the tournament Monday, playing 18 holes in an 8:30 a.m. shot gun start.
