People gathered for fun and festivities on the Boulder Public Library lawn for the 9th Annual Boulder Creek Hometown Fair this Labor Day weekend.
The fair featured a wide range of entertainment including children’s craft projects, the Chili Inferno Cook-off, a classic car show, shopping, a large food selection and concerts. Every activity was completely free for the public’s enjoyment.
“It’s cool that there’s so much to do,” said Jason Kirk, a freshman business major. “It’s hard to find something fun to do that doesn’t cost a lot of money, so this was great.”
The fair was separated into four parts: children’s area, arts and crafts exhibitors, a food court and concert vicinity. The children’s area consisted of various hands-on activities like a bouncing castle and a rock climbing wall.
Arts and crafts exhibitors showed a large collection of jewelry, clothing and accessories. When all the shopping and activities got exhausting, fair-goers were able to relax and enjoy tons of food.
“You’ve got to love the food at this fair,” said Kuzi Gerdts, a freshman pre-journalism major. “I really can’t even decide what I want. Should I have turkey leg or just go for the funnel cake?”
The concert area was also a popular choice for people who wanted to rest and watch a show. The main stage featured bands like Soul Sacrifice, Wayward Sons, Face and the Spring Creek Bluegrass Band. The community dance stage presented styles from salsa to belly dance.
“The variety of entertainment is so great,” said Tyler Bussell, a sophomore biochemistry major. “I have seen so many different talents in just one day.”
