Deep and dreamy folk: Daughter
Originally scheduled to perform at the Bluebird Theater, Daughter visits the Ogden on March 15 to give Denver a night of chilled-out music. This three-piece band brings a relaxed feel to their songs, but a brooding tone is undoubtedly twisted throughout the lyrics. Some of Daughter’s songs resonate on a different, more intimate level.
Daughter’s origins lay in lead vocalist Elena Tora. While originally a solo act, Tora wanted to add more. Tora eventually met Igor Haefeli, a music tech enthusiast, at a songwriting class in a London music school and started to work together. From there, Remi Aguilella added to the band with drums and a bass elements.
The band is signed with indie label 4AD, and had the opportunity to perform on Late Show with David Letterman. Daughter released their album, Not to Disappear on Jan. 15, three years after their debut album, If You Leave.
Daughter will perform at the Ogden Theatre on March 15th at 8:00 p.m. with opener Wilsen.
Quirky indie rock: Moon Taxi
This Nashville-based quintet comes to Boulder on St. Patrick’s Day. Moon Taxi released a live album, Live Ride, that exposed them to festivals throughout the Southeastern U.S. and afterwards spawned a nationwide tour in 2010.
Moon Taxi gained more momentum with their sophomore studio LP, Cabaret, and third album, Mountains Beaches Cites, including their first appearances on mainstream television on The Late Show with David Letterman and Conan. An increase in Moon Taxi’s fanbase brought them to popular music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Gevernor’s Ball, and Austin City Limits.
This band brings well-crafted music to their fans that undoubtedly sets a positive tone for their performances.
Moon Taxi will be performing at the Fox Theatre on March 17th at 9:00 p.m. with openers, The Congress.
Progressive Metal: Intronaut
This heavy metal band, consisting of guitarist and vocalist Sacha Dunable, guitarist/vocalist Leon del Muerte, drummer Danny walker, and bassist Joe Lester, are visiting Denver as part of their North American tour.
Intronaut released a four-track demo called Null and were signed to Goodfellow Records, where they eventually recorded their album Void. Intronaut has produced six albums since signing, and have also embarked on over ten tours in that same period. In 2012, they joined Tool for their tour in North America.
Intronaut will perform at the Bluebird Theater on March 19th at 8:00 p.m. with openers Scale the Summit, North, and In the Company of Serpents.
