The Colorado Bookstore “On The Hill” (CBOTH) will shutter its doors forever in March, store personnel confirmed Monday.
A sign posted on the bookstore’s building said that the space would be available for rent in May. The bookstore has operated at its current location — 1111 Broadway — since the mid-1960’s and has been on The Hill for more than 80 years.
The Colorado bookstore has been the go-to bookstore for the law school for some time, according to first-year law student Nick Trevino.
According to the law school’s website, CBOTH donates more than five percent of proceeds from law book sales back to the student bar association.
“That’ll be a loss for the law school,” Trevino said. “It’ll be strange not having it here.”
With CBOTH out of the way it will be interesting to see where law students get their textbooks from now on.
“The campus bookstore is probably happy,” Trevino said.
Representatives for Barnes & Noble College, which operates the store, could not immediately be reached for comment.
