The University of Colorado men’s rugby team played Life University’s Running Eagles in the second round of the playoffs Saturday, April 23rd in Atlanta. The Buffs, ranked as the seventh seed, lost 57-3 to their second-seeded opponent.
The Buffs led 3-0 in the first eight minutes, when senior back Sean Kilfoyle scored off of a penalty to give Colorado their only lead in the game. In the 12th minute, Life University scored their first goal and never relinquished the lead. By halftime, they led 24-3.
This is the second year the men’s rugby team has finished in the Elite 8.
“The guys are very good at motivating themselves,” said Colorado head coach Jim Snyder . “We knew this was going to be a tough game.”
