Four Colorado club teams represented the Black and Gold this weekend at national championships and brought back some titles to Boulder.
Women’s volleyball, gymnastics, the triathlon team and swimming and diving all traveled to respective competitions, with the triathlon team claiming their fifth consecutive national title in Tempe, Ariz..
CU women’s volleyball advanced to the second round at the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation’s National Championship Tournament but eventually fell to Florida in two sets.
The Buffs’ gymnastics team traveled to nationals for the first time. They sent nine athletes to Chattanooga, Tenn. The squad included four freshmen: Kaylyn White, Erica Pollack, Nichole Hagan and Emily Barber. Overall, the Buffaloes placed ninth in the nation.
Finally, the swimming and diving team attended their championship meet at Georgia Tech University. Along with rivals Florida and Missouri, the Buffs fought to add to their seven collegiate club national titles. The women’s team won their fourth consecutive championships with 1024 points, while the Florida Gators settled for second with 473.5. The men’s team experienced an opposite fate, losing to the Gators’ 887 points with 763 of their own.
