The University of Colorado Nordic ski team finished strong on Sunday to complete a comeback victory at the Denver Invitational. Starting the day down 20 points to host Denver University the Buffs rallied to finish with a 19 point victory.

The Buffs strong closing day performance also included two individual victories from Joanne Reid and Rune Oedegaard.
“It was an awesome day; we got two wins and another podium,” CU Nordic Head Coach Bruce Cranmer said. “You have to enjoy these kinds of days when they come.”
Colorado finished the meet with 852 points, followed by Denver’s total of 833 while Utah jumped New Mexico Sunday for third place with 796 points to the Lobos’ 754. Alaska Anchorage finished fifth with 704 points while Montana State took sixth with 652.
While the Buffs will enjoy this mid-season come from behind victory they will not be dwelling on it for too long as they prepare for the New Mexico Invitational Feb 1. The New Mexico Invitational is the highest in elevation of the season and format is slightly different from other races.
“At this point, we will do the same easy volume training this week,” Canmer said when asked about the different format.
Colorado has three first place finishes this season and will look to build on that as they progress through the schedule. The RMISA Championships take place Feb 22 and the NCAA Championships begin March 6.
